Who says a Big Band can only play 60-year-old dance numbers?
Not us!
Meet the Jazz Pioneers, a non-traditional Big Band in Poughkeepsie, New York. We combine the classical swing sounds of Tommy Dorsey and Count Basie with music from visionaries like Buddy Rich and Maynard Ferguson, as well as more modern artists like Billy Joel and Brian Setzer. Throw in some jazzed-up arrangements of popular songs and a few other surprises, and you've got the idea!
The Jazz Pioneers are directed by Bill Gillespie, and feature well-known vocalists Vito Petroccitto, Sr. and Ceista Little-Quinn.
